SPEAKER: HUW VAN STEENIS

Huw van Steenis, is a Vice President of JP Morgan and the e-Finance and Financial Services Equity Research Strategist.

Huw covers Brokerage, Speciality Finance and Banks Strategy. As such, he advises clients on the impact of e-commerce upon the financial service industry, and covers a number of e-finance companies.

Huw also advises Lab Morgan, JP Morgan's $1bn e-Finance incubator. He was recently voted number 1 ranked individual analyst by Institutional Investor for Speciality Finance in 2002. His 'Asset Gathering in Europe series' has become required reading for investors and called the 'industry bible'.

As an e-.Finance commentator, he has spoken at many of the major international conferences, and has frequently appeared in the media such as BBC TV, Radio 4, Sky, CNBC, Bloomberg TV and in various newspapers. He coined the phrase 'Martini Banking' and recently published 'Invasion of the Customer Snatchers: Online Finance Europe'

From 1995 to 2000, Huw was a Senior Manager at The Boston Consulting Group, where his responsibilities included e-Finance and MBA recruiting. He co-authored BCG's State of Online Retailing In Europe. Previously, Huw worked as an investment banker with Credit Suisse First Boston in New York and London.

Huw van Steenis received a MA in Philosophy, Politics and Economics from Trinity College, Oxford, where he won the Stirling Boyd Prize. He was subsequently awarded a Louis Franck Scholarship for study at INSEAD, where he graduated with an MBA.

Huw also speaks French and Spanish and is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts, his interests include charitable fund-raising, skiing, tennis, opera and, most recently, his new born son.
